What is a transponder key? |

Transponder keys were first introduced as a means to put an end to car theft. The transponder key or chip key as it is also commonly know works by using a code embedded in the key, when the key is turned in the ignition a code on the key is read and then the ignition will start. If the code does not match up the ignition cannot start. |
